The Knysna turaco (Tauraco corythaix), is an unmistakable bird measuring 40 – 42 cm long, including the tail. The most conspicuous feature of this bird has to be the red primary feathers which only really stand out in flight.

The red-billed oxpecker (Buphagus erythrorynchus) is a passerine bird in the oxpecker family, Buphagidae. It is native to the savannah of sub-Saharan Africa, from the Central African Republic east to South Sudan and south to northern and eastern South Africa.

The turquoise tanager 

The turquoise tanager (Tangara mexicana) is a medium-sized bird measuring around 13 -14cm (5.5 inches) in length, including its tail. They weigh in at about 20 grams. Adult birds are mostly dark blue and black with turquoise edging along their primary wing feathers, as well as turquoise shoulder patches.

The burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) is a small, long-legged owl found throughout open landscapes of North and South America. Burrowing owls can be found in grasslands, rangelands, agricultural areas, deserts, or any other open, dry area with low vegetation.

The rufous fantail (Rhipidura rufifrons) is a small to medium Passerine bird ranging from 14.5 cm – 18.5 cm in length, weighing roughly 10 grams. The forehead is a richly reddish-brown color across the eyes, under which there is a white arc.

The Himalayan black-lored tit (Machlolophus xanthogenys), is a resident breeder on the Indian sub-continent wearing broad black line down a yellow front. There is also a large black crest tipped with yellow, a black neck, throat, and black band running from the bill to behind the head.

The great eared nightjar 

The great eared nightjar (Lyncornis macrotis) is found living in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. A nocturnal bird, they flit through the forest under the cover of darkness.

The flame-rumped tanager (Ramphocelus flammigerus) is a species of primarily black bird with the lower back, rump, and uppertail coverts either lemony yellow (subspecies icteronotus) or the same area warmer yellow to orange, crimson, or scarlet (subspecies flammigerus).

The golden-hooded tanager 

The golden-hooded tanager (Stilpnia larvata) is a species of bird where both males and females are about 13 cm 95.1 in) long and are around 19 g (0.67 oz) in weight. The adult male has a golden head with a black eye mask edged with violet-blue above and below.

The glistening-green tanager 

The glistening-green tanager (Chlorochrysa phoenicotis) is a bird that stands out on the dullest of days, the kind of bird that stands out, even amongst a forest of green trees.

The black-throated bushtit

The black-throated bushtit (Aegithalos concinnus). There are in fact six subspecies that carry the name bushtit. All are strikingly handsome birds, though the black-throated bushtit really stands out with its orange plumage and the big black grin that brings to mind the Philadelphia Flyers mascot.

Pesquet’s parrot (Psittrichas fulgidus), also known as the Dracula parrot or as the vulturine parrot (leading to easy confusion with Pyrilia vulturina from Brazil), is the only member of its genus. It is endemic to the hill and montane rainforest in New Guinea.
